  JAMIE GRIFFITH (now JAMIE BAMBER) (St. John's College, 2nd year) - BEAN    
  Lead roles at school and Cambridge University included The Crucible, Twelfth Night, Blood Wedding and Volpone. He was in a professional production at the Globe Theatre in 1988 for the International Shakespeare Week. Whilst at school Jamie appeared in several television commercials.  
         
  After filming Shifting Sands & graduating from Cambridge University, Jamie Bamber trained at the London Academy of Dramatic Arts (LAMDA). Since then Jamie has had starring roles in a number of major television productions including Battlestar Galactica, Law and Order:UK, Hornblower, Band of Brothers, Ultimate Force.

  EMMA WILLIAMS (Homerton College, 3rd year) - JAYNE      
  A member of the National Youth Theatre, Emma has performed in The Tempest, Edward II, Othello, and Dangerous Liaisons. She was nominated for the Guardian Student Theatre Award during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 1992. She has also appeared in several television commercials and has been involved in several short films.  
               
  DICKON EDWARDS (Pembroke College, 2nd year) - DAN      
  Lead roles in over 10 plays while at Cambridge, including Salome, The Revenger's Tragedy, The Crucible, Children of a Lesser God, Hard Heart and California Suite. He is a member of the National Youth Theatre.
 
               
  ED SINCLAIR (St. Catherine's College, 1st year) - ALEX      
  Ed has performed in The Winter's Tale, Hiawatha, A Midsummer Night's Dream and King John. Before coming to Cambridge he was involved in a French film that was shot in this country.  
               
  CLAIRE TAYLOR (Trinity College, 2nd year) - DEBBIE      
  While at Cambridge Claire has acted in Cyrano de Bergerac, Single Spies, West, Artistic Licence, The Revenger's Tragedy, The Lover, Ball Boys and Frankenstein. In 1992 she appeared on the Channel 4 programme, The Crystal Maze.  
               
  PATRICK CORR (Queens' College, 1st year) - TOM      
  Back home in Northern Ireland Patrick has had lead roles in various productions, including Annie, Calamity Jane and Juno and the Paycock.  
               
  GABRIEL RATCLIFFE (St. Catherine's College, 1st year) - PETE      
  Gabriel has had several roles in school productions although this is his first acting role since arriving at Cambridge.  
               
  THE CREW          
               
  SIMON BIRKENHEAD (Queens' College, 2nd year) - WRITER / DIRECTOR / EDITOR    
  Shifting Sands is Simon's 3rd major screenplay and the second to be filmed. He has had much theatrical experience, acting in productions as varied as Grease, The Comedians, Little Shop of Horrors, The Hypochondriac, Cabaret and Twelfth Night, and he was awarded Distinction in the LAMDA Grade 8 Senior Acting Exam in 1990. He has also had wide experience with video, clocking up many 100's of hours of editing prior to working on Shifting Sands, and he worked both on- and off-camera in Bob, a student film shot on 16mm film over Christmas 1993.  
 
  Since graduating from Cambridge University, Simon Birkenhead has worked in advertising & marketing in London.  
               
  DARREN GREEN (Trinity Hall, M. Phil) - CAMERA      
  Having found an interest in films while working on film sets in Budapest, Darren worked as Sound Technician and General Assistant on the production team of Bob. He is a keen photographer and has had wide experience of working with Hi-8 video.  
               
  CHRISTOPHER SLASKI (Queens' College, 1st year) - COMPOSER      
  As well as composing numerous concert works (including a concerto for chamber orchestra and various jazz numbers), he has composed music for 3 other films (High Fliers, Obidos and Get That Job) and 2 theatrical productions (Medea and Dangerous Liaisons). He is currently studying Music at the university.  
               
  TRUDI BUCK (Newnham College, 3rd year) - PRODUCER      
  Trudi gained much of her experience of film-making in her capacity as President (and founding member) of the Cambridge University Film-Makers Society (now Cambridge University Film and Television Society). She has been involved with many short videos and was Producer for Bob.  
               
  SHANTA BHAVNANI (Selwyn College, 3rd year) - PRODUCTION ASSISTANT    
  Trained primarily as a theatre Stage Manager, Shanta has worked backstage on many productions while in Cambridge, incuding The Tempest, The Visit, Hitting Town, Grease, Sexpo '93 and a Barnardo's Fashion Show. At the Edinburgh Fringe Festival she had been Stage Manager for Toy Gods, The Duchess of Malfi and Goddess. She was also Stage Manager for The Accrington Pals during its run at the Lyric Studio, Hammersmith.
